Volunteers drive us
Volunteering is built on close relationships: between the association and its volunteers, and between volunteers and the people who receive support. This enables us to provide personal assistance tailored to individual needs.
Volunteers are the foundation of many practical initiatives in charitable organisations. Kind-hearted people can make a real difference through even the smallest acts. We occasionally work with volunteers who support individuals and families in targeted campaigns. The association is a volunteer organisation within the Slovenian Network of Volunteer Organisations.
Our campaigns are focused and adapted to the people who ask us for help. We deliberately keep teams manageable so that the purpose of each campaign remains clear. Volunteering is not merely unpaid work for an organisation; it is an expression of human solidarity, rooted in the volunteer’s willingness to help. We believe that support should be reciprocal and properly organised, and that volunteers should also be able to turn to the association when they need help or advice.
We want to develop volunteering responsibly and highlight that volunteers should contribute according to their abilities, not because no other solution can be found. People receiving support and volunteers should shape ways of helping together. The association therefore connects them and provides basic coordination rather than prescribing how volunteers must act in every situation.
We are a small organisation that supports people without making them feel powerless. We encourage natural, warm relationships between volunteers and those they assist. For us, the essence of volunteering is every act performed for another person without expecting a reward—even a small act can be a first step towards a better tomorrow.
